Gyrotonic® Level I Foundation Course
  • The training acquired in the Foundation Teacher Training Course is used worldwide in therapeutic, dance, alternative health and sports related facilities.

  • This course introduces teaching techniques and principals underlying the exercises taught on the Pulley-Tower Combination Unit.

  • Students learn in supervised groups taking the role of student and teacher alternately to facilitate the learning process. The methodology is also taught through verbal instruction and physical guidance, reinforcing the correct execution of breathing patterns synchronized with corresponding movement.

  • Special attention will be paid to the "hands on" by the Student to a moving person.

  • Participants learn to conceive and prepare individual Gyrotonic® training programs.

  • The course will take a minimum of 12 days and a total of 60 hours of training.

  • A certificate of apprenticeship, signed by Juliu Horvath only, will be issued upon successful completion of the course, allowing Students to begin teaching.

Gyrotonic® Apprenticeship Period

The purpose of the Apprenticeship is to prepare Students for the final certification with Juliu Horvath. Making arrangements for apprenticeship is the responsibility of the student. They may fulfill this requirement by:

  • A minimum of 55 hours of teaching clients the Foundation Course material on Gyrotonic® equipment.

  • Plus a minimum of 20 hours of supervised training (REVIEWING or ASSISTING) with a Master Trainer which consists of:

    A. Private lessons with a Master Trainer, focusing on the execution and proper application of the "hands on" with the Apprentice, applied to a moving person. These hours count as SUPERVISED REVIEWING.
    B. Group review with a Master Trainer, focusing on the execution and proper application of the "hands on" with the Apprentice, applied to a moving person. These hours count as SUPERVISED REVIEWING.
    C. Assisting a Master Trainer in a Pre-Training Course whereby the assisting must focus on the execution of "hands on" with the Apprentice, applied to a moving person.
    D. Assisting a Master Trainer in a Foundation Teacher Trainer Course. The assisting must focus on the "hands on" with the Apprentice. If the student chooses to assist for only part of the course, these hours count as "supervised assisting" hours.
    E. Assisting a Master Trainer in an entire Foundation Teacher Training Course. The assisting must focus on the "hands on" with the Apprentice. If the student chooses to assist throughout the entire Foundation Course or in every course session, the student will fulfill all supervised Master Trainer hours plus 30 hours of the teaching client hours (out of 55 teaching client hours that are required).

Note: The apprentice period must take place for a minimum of three months. Thus, the student cannot enroll in the Final Certification with Juliu Horvath if less than three months have expired since they finished the Foundation Teacher Training Course with a Master Trainer. The Master Trainer will oversee that these required hours are accomplished in a consistent manner throughout the entire Apprentice period. If 12 months have expired since the completion of the Foundation Teacher Training Course without taking the Final Certification Exam, the Apprentice Certificate will be nullified.
